Exposition Covers - 1901 Pan American Exposition (Bomar B01-08 to B01-19)

Buffalo N.Y. Oct 11 1901, American machine with involute "1901 Pan-American Exposition" flag cancel ties 1¢ Pan-American (294) on multicolor Electricity Building expo post card to Newark N.J., additional strike of machine at left, Very Fine and scarce, One of 24 recorded examples of Bomar B01-19, this being the only one run through the machine twice., ex-Mader.

This machine is a Langford type B-46 involute flag with the year 1901 superimposed on the rectangle of stars. Initially used for a little over three months beginning in September 1899 as a receiving marking at the main Buffalo post office. In October 1901, this canceling device was taken to the Exposition postal station on the fair grounds and installed on the American machine already at the station, the same machine that had previously been used to provide B01-11.
