(San Bernardino) Wells, Fargo & Co's Express, Providence, Cal., complete bold purple handstamp on 1874, 3¢ green entire to San Francisco, black WFE-030 printed frank at top, manuscript answer docket of May 1883 on reverse, an Extremely Fine strike, Providence was a small ghost town that serviced the mines of the Providence Mountains. It is believed that four examples exist from this location of which this is the nicest known. Estimate $300 - 400.
