Havre Line "Arago" was under repairs and as a result the New York mails of Feb. 5th were carried by "Etna", chartered from the Cunard Line. On 18 February she was reported as sailing from Southampton "for Havre" but no report has been found of her arrival there, this cover apparently proves she arrived on Feb. 19th. Cover was prepaid 42¢ for double the 21¢ French mail rate to the Netherlands effective April 1, 1857 to December 31, 1867.

Realized: $725
