(Hawaii) Waimea H, Oct 24, manuscript origin postmark (807, 1R) on cover to Rev. Bishop in Honolulu, franked with 1875, 2¢ brown canceled by manuscript and tied by target handstamp, "Kawaihae P.O." transit cds (244.02, scarcity 2) and "Honolulu, H.I., Post Office, Oct 28, 1878" receiving cds (223.029), pencil docketing at left noting L. Lyons as sender, Very Fine, a rare Waimea manuscript postmark usage.
Scott No. 35    Estimate $750 - 1,000.

The Postmasters of Waimea were Rev. Lorenzo Lyons (1858-1886) and Miss E. W. Lyons (1886-1900). Parker Ranch was headquartered nearby and the town was also site of the mission run by Lorenzo Lyons.
