(Maui) Peahi, Maui, Jan 29, 1897, complete purple cds (253.02, 1RRR) on 1894, 1¢ red postal card to Haiku; some small holes in card not affecting postmark, otherwise Very Fine, one of the finer strikes of this very rare postmark, with Only Five Strikes Recorded with this being the earliest.

Peahi was a small plantation town on the north west coast of East Maui. Stamp sales in 1898 were unrecorded, but the postmaster was allotted a salary of $5.
