A GREAT COMBINATION OF RARE TOWN POSTMARK ON A MOURNING COVER TO AN EXTREMELY SCARCE DESTINATION.
The Hilea 282.016 cds has a 32mm double lined outer and single lined inner circle with 8-ray sunburst ornaments, and known struck in colors of pink, magenta and purple. Only eight strikes are recorded from December 1883 to October 17, 1888. In January, 1892, the postmaster reported the postmark device had been in use since 1882 and was "entirely worn out." A new device (282.011) began use in January 1888.
