McStay, Hilo, Hawaii, reverse with Honolulu (6.3) duplex transit and partial purple Hilo arrival cds; reduced slightly at left with nick, F.-V.F.

THIS IS THE EARLIEST OF ONLY TWO RECORDED USAGES OF THE KEAAU DUPLEX ON COVER.

Keaau, meaning "hindering current", was part of the Puna District on the Island of Hawaii operating 1899-1900 with Peter Lee as Postmaster. It was a camp for the Olaa Plantation. Current known usage: June 8, 1899 to January 17, 1900.
