Boston Postal History Collection, 1743-1870s, important collection of approximately 150 covers mounted on exhibit pages starting with Colonial manuscript and plenty of various "Boston" straightlines including 1743 "B 1/2" use to Newport R.I., 1744 "B 1/2" use to Newport R.I., 1746 "Bo 1/2" use to Newport R.I., 1748 "Bo 2/4" use to Newport R.I., 1766 "Bo 4" use to Philadelphia, 1768 incoming ship letter with forwarder's endorsement of Isaac Smith, 1773 with red "BOSTON" straightline to Philadelphia, 1783 olive "Boston" straightline to Portsmouth, 1787 "BOSTON" straightline to Portsmouth, 1793 "Boston" to Newburyport, good showing of ship mail including 1784 "Boston" straightline and ms. "Sh 16½" rating from Grenada to Saybrook (stain), 1796 "Boston" straightline and ms. "Sh 24" rating from France to Philadelphia, various cds styles including several 1801 Federal issued cds, one being a very nice "Ship" cover and red strikes in 1803, 1839 circa use with "Steam Boat 18¾" circular rating handstamp to Boston, a very unusual 1842 manuscript "Boston Sep. 8" postmark to New York, some railroad route agent cds including "Boston & Albany R.R.", "Boston & Fitchburg R.R." and "Boston & Maine R.R." etc., 1849 registered use to Philadelphia with blue "R" handstamp, 1850 Boston manuscript "80" cent rating to San Francisco, 1850 Boston "40" cent handstamp rating to San Francisco, 1850 Boston "Ship" and "22" cent rating handstamps on cover from Chile to New York, some small Boston Paids on #10s, etc., overall F.-V.F. with plenty of better clean usages throughout.
