8¢ Columbian, printed on both sides, block of 4, o.g., hinge remnant at top, never hinged at bottom, clear impressions on reverse, bright color, F.-V.F., a rare variety and the Only Known Multiple of This Variety, due to the controversy of whether it is a true error, it is being offered on its own merits; with 1978 P.F. certificate stating "printed on both sides…it is a genuine variety".Scott No. 236 var. This is the only multiple available of this variety discovered on one sheet in the 1970's. It has been argued by some that the impression on the reverse is a secondary or right reading offset while others believe it must be a true printed on both sides variety.
