Mexico, 1874, 100c carmine, Monterrey, cons 28-76, on 1877 registered folded letter to Saltillo, tied by blue Monterrey oval date stamp with additional at edges, black certification date stamp at center, original enclosure a letter of affidavit bearing Revenue 1878, 50c Renta tied by official court eagle cachet handstamp and manuscript date, cover with receiving backstamp, Very Fine, this is the only cover known with such usage and an icon of the 1874 issue. The addressee refused to receive it and wrote on the back a note "I did not received this letter- May 28" and returned to sender. The sender brought the letter to the courts in January 1878 and asked the court to authenticate the letter. For that service the court charged 50c paid with a revenue stamp pasted inside of the letter and cancelled with the court's cachet.
