1861, 30¢ orange, strip of three used with 12¢ black (69), tied by "Bethany W.Va. Oct 10 '63" duplexes on cover to South Australia, endorsement updated via "Marseilles & Suez", red "N. York Am. Pkt. 'Paid' Oct 14" exchange cds and red "24" cent credit to G.B. handstamp, carried by Hapag Line Allemannia from New York Oct. 14th to Southampton arriving Oct. 25th, red London Paid (10.25) transit cds, then by P&O Pera from Marseilles Oct. 28th to Alexandria arriving Nov. 3rd, overland to Suez departing Nov. 4th on P&O Golconda to Galle arriving Nov. 23rd, then P&O Madras Nov. 24th to King George's Sound, South Australia arriving Dec. 12th, Adelaide (12.15) arrival cds, right 30¢ small flaws from edge placement, a Very Fine usage.
Scott No. 71    Estimate $4,000 - 6,000.

Although prepaid $1.02 for Bremen-Hamburg mails via Marseilles for a letter weighing between ¼-½ oz, it was actually sent by British mails via Marseilles as indicated by the London transit cds.
