1854 (Feb. 4) Milwaukee, Wis. to Tÿrol, Austria, cover with "Milwaukee Wis. Feb 4" cds and "Paid" straightline handstamp with ms. "21" cent rating, endorsed "Via Liverpool p. Steamer", red "New York Am. Packet Feb 14" exchange cds, carried by Cunard Line Arabia from Boston to Liverpool arriving Feb. 25th, red London (2.28) backstamp and "U.S. Pkt." straightline handstamp and matching "3½/Groshen" debit handstamp, red "Aus England Per Aachen, 1/3" transit backstamp and blue ms. "23" crossed out and "21" adajcent, red crayon "21", reverse with Contro, Fussen (3.4) and Innsbruk (3.5) arrival backstamps, blue ms. "6-55" rating; flap tear and some wear, Very Fine and scarce use.
Estimate    $400 - 600.

Letter was sent letter at the 21¢ British Open Mail by American packet rate which paid the letter only to G.B. London marked U.S. PKT handstamp to show source of letter and sent it via Aachen to Austria unpaid under Anglo-Prussian Convention of 1852.
