1866 (Jan. 11) Le Havre, France to New York N.Y., blue folded letter bearing France 80c rose, horizontal pair, trimmed at top, tied by dotted "1763" diamond cancel on 1861 blue folded letter to New York N.Y., bold "Le Havre, 11 Janv. 66" origin cds and small red "PD" framed handstamp with "6" cent credit handstamp adjacent, carried by French Ligne G pacquebot Washington departing Havre Jan. 13th to New York arriving Jan. 29th, two strikes of red "New York 'Paid 6' Jan 30" exchange cds; vertical file fold, F.-V.F., a scarce French packet use.

This New York "Fr. Pkt." exchange cds is known used only between April 1865 and July 1867. Cover is prepaid 80c per 7½ grams with 3¢ per 7½ gram credit to the U.S. if carried by British or French packet.
