Colorado City C.T, Jun 29, clear strike of cds and matching target cancels 3¢ pink (U34) entire to Charles City Iowa, sharp strike of "Charles City Ioa, Jul 11" arrival cds with ms. "1862" written in; minor staining, reduced slightly at right, F.-V.F.

Colorado City was founded on May 22nd 1859 by Colorado Town Company, a group of pioneers from Denver and Auraria. They claimed land near Ute Pass leading to the gold discoveries at Fair Play and Hamilton in South Park. The post office opened May 24th 1860 in Kansas Territory.
