New South Wales, 1854, Queen Victoria "Diadem", Perkins Bacon & Co. progressive and final state die proofs, three different in black on India mounted on card; includes progressive primary die proof prepared for the 6d value (56x61mm) showing head and outerframe with spandrels, void duty/value ribbons, progressive primary die proof prepared for the 1sh value (43x75mm) of head and outer frame "after entering the head", and final state die proof of head only (40x66mm) with the inner background strengthened, each in exceptional condition, Very Fine and choice, the 6 pence die is one of three recorded (one of which is in the Royal Collection), the 1 shilling die is one of two recorded (the other is in the Royal Collection) and both are ex-Yardley, Ginger, Hutson & Manwood, and the head die is one of only two examples in private hands and is ex-Hutson & Manwood; each with 2013 B.P.A. certificate.
