1848 (Jun. 26) Malaga, Spain to Boston Mass. via London, datelined folded letter with blue "U.S. Consulate, Malaga" octagonal hand, red Malaga origin cds, sent unpaid overland via Paris to London, red (7.7) arrival backstamp and manuscript "1/3" due rating applied, postage due paid by Baring Bros and remailed with red London "Paid, L.S." Maltese cross datestamp and red manuscript "1/-" 1s prepaid rating, carried by Cunard Line Hibernia from Liverpool Jul. 8th to New York arriving Jul. 21st, bold strike of red "29" retaliatory due handstamp for 24¢ transatlantic packet plus 5¢ inland postage, Very Fine.
Estimate    $300 - 400.

Letter was sent overland via Madrid and Paris to London where Baring Brothers & Co. paid postage due and remailed letter to Boston.
