1853 (Sep. 3) Calcutta, India to Boston Mass., gray folded letter with "Whitney & Co., Calcutta" circular handstamp, red "G.P.O." and "India" framed handstamps, carried by P&O Hindostan from Galle to Suez, then Valetta from Alexandria to Marseilles arriving Oct. 12th, red London (10.15) backstamp, manuscript "1/10" 1s10d due rating, "44" cent debit to U.S., carried by Cunard Line Arctic from Liverpool Oct. 19th to New York arriving Oct. 30th, "Boston, Am. Pkt., Oct 31" exchange backstamp and "65" cent due rating handstamp, Very Fine, ex-Arthur White.
