Sacramento City, Cal., Jan 28, large serifed cds (type 2) in red and blue manuscript "40" rate marking on folded letter to Geneseo, New York, letter (3 pages) is headed "Long Bar Jan 23th" with no year date but necessarily an 1851 use given the postmark type and rate, letter is from a man to his wife at home with personal content including questions about a newborn daughter the father has never seen, Very Fine and attractive, letter written 7 years before Long Bar had a Post Office.
