New Zealand, 1855, Queen Victoria "Chalon Head", 1s pale yellow green on blued paper, London printing, Large Star watermark, unusually large margins except clear at bottom, strong color and impression, tied by indistinct barred oval, matching "Otago, New-Zealand, MR 24 1858" cds on blue folded letter to London, England, red London Paid (7.13) arrival cds also ties 1s; light vertical fold barely affects 1s, Very Fine and choice use, R.C. This cover was carried by "Thomas and Henry" from Dunedin to Melbourne, then by E & A "European" from Melbourne to Suez (via Galle), then RMSP "Teviot" from Alexandria to Malta, and finally RMSP "Wye" to Marseilles.

The five recorded unbisected 1s London printing first issue uses:
1. 1857 Dec. 5, New Plymouth to London bearing 1s single, ex-Hackmey
2. 1858 Mar. 8, Otago to London, England bearing 1s single, ex-Agabeg, Dumas and Woolfe, the cover offered here.
3. 1858 Apr. 8, Nelson to London, England bearing 1s horizontal pair, ex-Kaye, Hackmey
4. 1858 Aug. 3, Ahuriri to Lewes, Sussex bearing 1s single, ex-Amundsen, Hackmey
