1938, 50¢ Presidential, used with 10¢ Prexie (815) pair, tied by dumb ovals, purple "Honolulu, Hawaii, Registered, Dec 12, 1941" backstamps, cover held by censors, Hawaii censor tape at right tied by "Released by I.C.B. 3" handstamp, additional examiners censor tape at left, purple "Via Clipper", "Trans-Pacific &/Trans-Atlantic Route", "Registered" and "Return Receipt Requested" handstamps, reverse with San Francisco (1.3), New York (1.4) transits and London (1.23) arrival oval, Very Fine and rare registered use less than a week after the bombing of Pearl Harbor.Scott No. 831 Estimate $400 - 600.
Cover was prepaid 70¢ for the 20¢ per ½ ounce airmail rate from Hawaii to the United States, 30¢ airmail rate to Scotland, plus 15¢ registry fee and 5¢ return receipt fee. Note the "Trans-Pacific &/Trans-Atlantic Route" handstamp explains that 50¢ combination rate. The 30¢ airmail rate was in effect from April 28, 1939 to October 31, 1946.
