(TransA - Collins) 1852 (Oct. 30) New York, N.Y. to Geneva, Switzerland, gray folded letter with red "N.York Paid Oct 30" exchange cds and matching "Paid" arc handstamp with pencil "35" cent prepaid rating, large New York red "12" credit handstamp, carried by Collins Line Baltic from New York Oct. 30th to Liverpool arriving Nov. 10th, red Aachen (11.12) transit backstamp and matching "Franco" straightline with blue manuscript "fr. 1" credit to show the foreign transit fee was paid, Baden rail (11.14) transit backstamp, red manuscript "10" rappen restatement of foreign transit fee prepayment, blue Geneva (11.16) arrival backstamp, red crayon "260" rappen due rating; top edge tear, Very Fine.

THIS LETTER WAS CARRIED ON THE FIRST VOYAGE FROM THE UNITED STATES TO CARRY PRUSSIAN CLOSED MAIL.

Letter paid fully prepaid the 35¢ Prussian closed mail rate per ½ ounce to Switzerland. The Swiss marked in error 260 rappen postage due for an unpaid double rate letter via England and France. One of the 4,000 Prussian closed mail letters carried on this voyage.
