1877 (Dec. 13) Poughkeepsie N.Y. to Dunolly, Victoria, registered cover bearing United States, 10¢ brown (161), pair and two singles, each tied by cork cancel, matching "Poughkeepsie N.Y. Dec 13" cds, New York Registered (12.13, 12.15) backstamps, sent via London with red "Registered" crown handstamp, carried by P&O steamers via Southampton, Suez and Galle, Melbourne (2.27) arrival backstamp, eventually sent to Dead Letter Office, green "D.L.B. Victoria, NO 6 '80" backstamp and marked "Dead / R" in pink ms. across face, "Officially Sealed in the Returned Letter Office, London" label affixed at right edge, United States "Dead Letter Office, Feb 5 -81" triangular backstamp, returned to sender in "Postal Service" official envelope to Poughkeepsie, docketed received Feb. 11th at left; some cover wear, Very Fine.
