Confederacy, Bonsack's, Va., Jun 1 (First Day of Confederate Postal System), large balloon type cds partially strengthened in pencil, on gray allover locomotive and "USM" horse and rider illustrated "Adams Express Company, Southern Express" shaded ad cover to Lynchburg, Va., Nesbitt imprint on reverse, franked with U.S. 1857, 3¢ dull red canceled by light grid handstamp, tied by manuscript "X" obliteration and additional manuscript "Paid 5" for the new Confederate single rate, Very Fine.
