Bermuda, 1865, Queen Victoria, 1d rose red, perf 14, two singles, in combination with 1880, Queen Victoria, ½d stone (19) on cover to Greenfield, Mass., tied by the rare first type "Bermuda, R.O., De 9, 80" cds and "6" bar duplex postmark of Paget West, reverse with "New York, Dec 13" cds and circular "Paid All, FD" transit duplex, Very Fine.

A RARE USAGE OF THE PAGET WEST "6" FIRST TYPE DUPLEX POSTMARK ON COVER TO THE UNITED STATES.

The first duplex with number "6" was issued to receiving officer Thomas Burgess at Paget West at the time this cover was posted. There was no example of this cancellation on cover in the Ludington collection. This cover left for New York on December 9th by the S.S. "Flamborough".
