(San Joaquin) Mac Dermott's Bridge, Cal., Mar 31, oval date stamp with manuscript day (SAJ-1790, R6) canceling on 1855, 10¢ Nesbitt entire to Howells Depot, N.Y.; light wear, Very Fine, an extremely rare postmark from this short-lived post office, with only three examples recorded.

Mc Dermott's Bridge was named for the first postmaster William F. McDermott who built a bridge across the Calaveras River about halfway between Stockton and the mines.
