Cal., Mar 28, intensely bold cds (Williams unlisted) without integral rate and manuscript "40" rate marking on cover to Chaplin, Conn., undated but necessarily an 1850 use given the postmark type, an Extremely Fine and choice strike, the only recorded example of this Stockton postmark without integral rate. Estimate $150 - 200.
Stockton had three different handstamp postmarks in 1850. The example here, an integral "40" rate (SAJ-2300) and an integral "80" rate cds which is also unlisted and unique.
