"Ford" and matching large "5" rating handstamp, small edge tear at left, Very Fine and scarce Indian Territory use from Cherokee Nation, ex-Bleuler. Estimate $500 - 750.
The Cherokee Female Seminary was established in the summer of 1851, and at the insistence of Sarah Worcester and others, a Miss Whitman, a student at Mount Holyoke was engaged as the head-mistress. It is probable that this is a letter to one of her classmates.
