Tucson, N.M., Jan. 19, bold New Mexico Territory cds ties 3¢ dull red (26) on circa 1861 yellow cover to Brunswick, Maine, manuscript "Via Overland mail to St. Louis" endorsement for the Butterfield Overland Mail route; bit of flap missing and repaired edge tear, Extremely Fine appearance.

A RARE TUCSON, MEXICO TERRITORY USE CARRIED ON THE BUTTERFIELD OVERLAND MAIL ROUTE.

The post office was established in 1857. On February 24th 1862 became part of the Arizona Territory.
