(Cayuga & Susquahanna Railroad) Cayuga & Susqh. R.R., Mar 17, black route agent cds ties 3¢ dull red (11A) on light buff cover to Syracuse, N.Y., accompanied by circa 1875 cover with "Cayuga Lake N.Y., Nov 5" cds on Union Springs N.Y. corner card cover bearing 3¢ green (158) to Ithaca N.Y.; latter with some wedge wear, a Very Fine pair.
Towle No. 131-A-2    Estimate $200 - 300.

Circa 1852 cover carried north to Cayuga for Syracuse on the combined railroad and steamboat service of Route 1368. Circa 1875 cover carried 32 miles south from Union
Springs to Ithaca on Route 1284. The Cayuga Lake cds is unrecorded but must have been used on the route, as no post office of this name existed in New York State.
