Sweden, 1813, Feather Letter. A lovely folded cover with feather embedded in sealing wax on reverse, Very Fine.

Sweden instituted feather mail almost two centuries ago, a special delivery system whereby a carrier made a special trip with a letter. The color and size of the feather indicated the speed, whether the carrier could stop for the night, or continue right through the night.
