Hawaii Reference Collection. Well over 300 items on annotated on album pages on binder; includes various Missionary forgeries identified by types, 1853-68 King Kamehameha issues including genuine with re-issue and reprints including specimens, two 1861 issues on cover with forged postmarks followed by genuine and forgery types, similar Numeral issue types including some genuine, forgeries including identified types and positions with a section of large multiples, 1861-69 King Kamehameha issues again with genuine, re-issues and imitations, selection of Banknote issues including a few forged provisional overprints, few stationery items; some duplication to be expected.

Lot 29

Honduras First Issue Airmail Reference Collection. Approximately 180 stamps mounted on pages; includes a fascinating collection of 133 stamps put together and annotated by the famed Raoul de Thuin giving the history of these overprint and surcharge issues including details regarding the periods of printings, mentions the "AFRO" error surcharge being corrected on the first days of printing, etc., the collection contains 2 rare proofs, 2 genuine including the rare #C5 (defect, signed by creator Dr. Pounds), 66 reprints and 63 fakes (most likely the bulk of which were made by Thuin), reprints with some very unusual varieties, also some additional items including two sample corner card covers that were used in the sales of the reprints; a fascinating and important collection of these issues.

Italian States: Modena Reference Collection. Well over 300 items mounted on pages in binder; 1852 Eagle Coat of Arms issue with genuine issues mostly used including the corresponding newspaper tax stamps mostly mint, forged cover bearing 10c & 40c values from the defaced die, run of forgeries showing various issues and cancellations, includes so-called Usigli reprints and a set of the Spiro Bros. used sheets, 1859 Provisional issues with genuine issues including a few with forged cancels, a host of forgery types including Spiro Bros. sheets and other multiples including the so-called Capt. Fiecchi reprints in pairs, 1859 Newspaper Tax issue including genuine mint single (cat. $1,150, P.F. cert), reprint and corresponding forgeries.

Approximately 350 items mostly mounted on album pages on binder; 1858 Coat of Arms issue with various genuine issues to the 10g used with some on cover and mint, ½g with private reprints and various forgeries, 2g issue including first (E. Diena cert.) and second type postal forgeries, also many additional off cover postal forgeries, 20g issues including 3 genuine used, private reprints and various postal forgery types as well as general forgeries, etc., 1860 issues with most of the ½t Trinacrie issue forgeries types represented including on cover, ½t Croix de Savoire issue including a genuine sound large margin single used (RPS cert.), strong representation of forgery issues including a sheet and block items, few Naepolitan Province 10g postal forgeries including two covers, etc.

Italian States: Papal/Roman States Reference Collection. Over 400 items mostly mounted on pages in three binders; 1852 First issue including genuine issues through to high values including 50b two mint (one creased, with RPS cert.) and three used singles (one repaired) and five 1sc used values (forged cancels or repaired), lower values with multiple issues and including several genuine on cover usages and well as many fake bisect covers, a variety of forgeries including the 5b type II postal forgery on cover and used off cover (both with Sismondo certs), 8b postal forgeries including a used type I and two type II singles with one on piece with Bologna postmark (signed E. Diena & P Holcombe), 1sc value including a signed Sperati die proof and a Raoul de Thuin cover, 1867 issues with genuine issues including 20c cover and similar 1868 issues including blocks of four to the 40c value, section of Usigli reprints with a section of "fantasy reprints", Moen reprints including sheets, study of the Gelli & Tani reprints including ex-Fournier album items, Cohn reprints and "5th reprint" reprints including full sheets imperf and perf'd, also a selection of forgeries.

Italian States: Parma Reference Collection. Well over 350 items mostly mounted on pages in binder; 1852-55 first issues including various genuine, forgery section with items from the Fourier album and later identified by types including various Spiro Bros. sheets, Hänsler creations, type B-XII "reprints", etc., 1857-59 second issues with genuine and most forgery types represented showing a variety of cancels including Spiro used sheets, B-4 type including on cover, 1859 Provisional issues with genuine 10c-40c values and genuine newspaper tax issues, set of Spiro sheets and an diverse run of forgeries with very few types not represented.

Italian States: Romagna Reference Collection. Well in excess of 400 items mostly mounted on album pages in binder; including a section of genuine in moderate duplication (postmarks presumably forged), genuine with forged cancellations including 9 covers (1908 W.H. Colson letter regarding 8 of the covers), Usigli original die "first printing" reprints and "essay" sheets in colors, several other reprints including set of the Moen's type II private reprints in pairs, an extensive range of forgeries including some blocks, sheets and plating works, study of cancellations on Fourier forgeries, later type forgeries with many "first known copies", some forgery stock with some heavy duplication, etc.

San Marino Reference Collection. Approximately 250 items on stock and album pages; with genuine issues up to the 1903-25 Mt. Titano set including 1877-99 Arms issues with parallel */o, includes mint keys values 1l carmine and yellow (small fault, RPS cert.) and 1l light blue (A. Diena cert.), 1892 Surcharges including the better 10c on 20c 2nd surcharge mint (RPS cert.), also first issue dues with 3 complete mint sets, forgeries mainly of the 1877-99 first issue, mostly Fournier items including cancels types, imperf varieties and a portion of page from a Fournier album.

Approximately 300 items mostly mounted on album pages in binder; includes a section of early stampless with forged Cavallini handstamps and embossed types on genuine watermark paper, 1851 KEVII issues with genuine used 5c & 20c values, Genoa forgeries with issues on cover in pairs, good range of others forgeries including Fournier and Spiro creations, 1853 issues including a set of genuine used (5c & 40c with certs.), reprints including on cover creations and a study of forged cancels, 1855-63 issues including a genuine 1863 cover to Chile with 40c & 80c singles in combination with Italy 1862, 10c two singles - the 80c being repaired, other cover fabrications, reprint sheets and a section of forged newspaper stamps.
