(San Jose) Truman & Chapman's Express, two covers, first with black printed frank (TRC-001) with illustration of locomotive and four freight cars on 3¢ pink (U35) entire cancelled by manuscript "November 30/64" postmark to San Jose, accompanied by Truman & Co's Express blue frank (TRE-001a) with illustration of locomotive and two freight cars on 3¢ pink (U59) buff entire cancelled by manuscript "Feb 28th/65" postmark to San Jose, Very Fine pair of illustrated express frank covers.
Estimate    $200 - 300.

Truman Expresses were the first express in California that used the railroad for transportation. Truman carried express matter on the San Francisco and San Jose railroad. Wells Fargo forced them off the railroad in 1865.
