1901, Pan-Americans complete, first day cover, rich colors, tied by partial registry ovals, purple "Sub-Sta. No. 37, Wash. D.C., Registered, May 1, 1901" double-circle datestamp on registered First Day cover to Munich, Germany, New York registry label (No. 19457), reverse with New York (5.2) transit and Munich (5.13) arrival cds; faint toning bands from flap gum, otherwise Very Fine, ex-Gibson.

ONE OF ONLY SIXTEEN RECORDED FIRST DAY COVERS A COMPLETE SET OF THE PAN-AMERICAN ISSUE.

There are now a total of seven used from Washington D.C. having the same stamp configuration with New York registry exchange label numbers in the range (19447, 19452, 19457, 19458, 19465, 19468, 19474), including five to Germany, one to Finland and one to Switzerland.

1938, 19¢ Hayes, tied by dumb oval, purple "Philadelphia, Pa. Registered, Sep 21, 1939" backstamps on buff University of Pennsylvania corner card cover to Jenkintown Pa., purple "Registered" handstamp, mailing probably contained Pennsylvania Football tickets, includes original printed advertising enclosures for Erlander Theater event and the upcoming Nov. 25th Cornell-Penn football game, Extremely Fine.

1938, $2 Harding, used with 20¢ Prexie (825) pair and 50¢ China Clipper (C22), tied by two strikes of dumb oval, purple "New York, N.Y. (G. P.O.) Registered, Jun 24, 1941" backstamps on registered large-size cover to German occupied Holland, purple "Trans Atlantic Route" and "A.R." handstamps, endorsed "Via Clipper Mail", blue "Registered No. 385672" handstamp, dual censored with American tape at left and roughly sealed with German tape, Fine and scarce $2 Prexie use.

The Germans invaded the Netherlands on May 10th and occupation officially began on 17 May 1940 after surrender. It would be five years before the entire country was liberated, during which time over 210,000 inhabitants of the Netherlands became victims of war, among them 104,000 Jews and other minorities, victims of genocide.
