Sep 21" cds, with lengthy five page original enclosure on telegraph letterhead and a Erie Railway ticket to Waverly; some cover corner wear at top right, still Very Fine.

(Telegraph) Hannibal Telegraphery, clear circular handstamp on cover addressed to Alton, Ills., entered the mails with "Hannibal, Mo., Feb 2" cds and manuscript "5" rating, with original enclosure datelined "Hannibal, Feby 1st, 48" with interesting content…Today we received a mail, and it was the first we have had for ten days, and for this one we are under no obligation to Cave Johnson or his agents (U.S. mail agent) as it was brought by a private express paid for by the citizens of this place, from Bowling Green, Very Fine, extremely rare with only two such example recorded, the illustrated example in ASCC (volume III, pg 120), ex-Hahn & Born.
