1870, 15¢ bright orange, N.B.N.C. printing, used with 7¢ vermilion (149), tiny tear, tied by matching quartered cork cancels duplexed with "Portchester N.Y., Jul 13" cds on 1872 cover from the Davis correspondence to Lima, Peru, red "New York '12' Jul 15" credit datestamp, Aug. 7th arrival backstamp; reduced slightly at right and small cover edge tears at bottom, Very Fine appearance, a colorful franking for the 22¢ rate.

1870, 24¢ purple, N.B.N.C. printing, light circle of wedges cancel, precision centering amid beautifully balanced margins, strong vibrant color, Extremely Fine to Superb, an exceptional gem, by way of comparison only two examples have been graded higher by the P.S.E.; with 2016 P.F. Graded certificate (XF-S 95, SSV $1,350).
