1857, 1¢ blue, type II, complete reconstruction of the major plate two crack, positions 2, 12, 13, 23, 33L2, four Used, selected examples with plate crack clearly showing, pos. 2L2 with tiny closed tear at top, F.-V.F. and handsome study; all with 2004 P.F. certificate except pos. 13L2.

1857, 1¢ blue, type II, positions 66-68L2, horizontal strip of 3, rich color with light Washington City cds's, Aug 6 1857, light corner crease at upper right, F.-V.F. appearance.

1857, 1¢ blue, type III, position 63R4, traces of a black cancel, appears unused, fresh and attractive, F.-V.F.

1857, 1¢ blue, types III & IIIa, horizontal strip of 3, the right stamp type IIIa, positions 54-56L4, beautifully centered with incredibly deep, rich color; canceled Jan 15 Bridesburgh, Pa. cds's, left & right stamps with very minor inconsequential flaws, otherwise Extremely Fine. A choice multiple; with 2012 & 1984 P.F. certificates, the latter erroneously calling all type III and not noting faults.
Scott No. 21, 22    $3,900.

There appears to be a break in the bottom outer line of the right stamp, but it is very small and must be at least 2mm to be considered a type III. Neinken/Ashbrook classify all stamps from position 56L4 as type IIIa.
