1847, 5¢ red brown, horizontal pair, full to large margins, tied by red square grid cancels, matching "New-York, Sep 18" cds and "BALTIMORE R.R." straightline on buff cover to Boston Mass.; slight wear and wax seal stain, a Very Fine pair on an unusual railroad use.
Scott Nos. 1    $1,200.

This cover was likely carried by the Baltimore railroad into New York City, and sent by another train to Boston.
