1851, 12¢ gray black, huge margins showing portion of adjacent stamps on three sides with full sheet margin at top, rich intense color and a wonderful sharp proof-like impression on bright paper, neat face free town corner cancel, a Superb gem; with 2000 P.F. & 2020 P.S.E. certificates, the latter Graded (Superb 98, SMQ $2,750).

AN EXCEPTIONALLY SUPERB USED EXAMPLE OF THE 1851 12¢ IMPERFORATE ISSUE WHICH IS ONE OF THE FINEST KNOWN.

It is interesting to note that a slight double transfer of the rosettes shows in the top sheet margin. This is only the second example of this transfer variety we ever encountered and may only occur in early impressions.
