Mexico, (Colima) 8r Black on Red Brown, without District Overprint, large to huge margins, tied by perfect bold strike of Colima oval date stamp (Schatzkes 179) on fresh 1861 folded letter sheet to Guadalajara, Extremely Fine and choice, with only 500 issued, this is from the first shipment and therefore has no overprint (NF $550 for off cover single); with 2023 M.E.P.S.I. certificate.

Mexico, Cordova 4r Black on Yellow, tied by Cordova boxed handstamp (Schatzkes 188) on 1861 folded letter sheet to Puebla; certificate states the cover has been repaired however it only has been silked on reverse and we find no evidence of repair, Very Fine, with only 665 issued (NF $1,200 for off cover single), most likely unique cover from this district, ex-Mazepa; with 2001 M.E.P.S.I. certificate.

Mexico, Cordova 8r Green on Red Brown, no gum, full even margins, horizontal crease, Very Fine appearance, a great rarity with only 9 issued, another known copy is also unused and has defects (NF unpriced); signed K. Schimmer, with 2016 M.E.P.S.I. certificate.

ONE OF ONLY TWO RECORDED EXAMPLES OF THE 1861 8R GREEN ON RED BROWN FROM CORDOVA.

The 8r Green on Brown stamps were printed in parallel to the 8r Black on Brown to combat the illegal use of splits and only sent to six larger districts. However, at the end of the issue, with the central post office in disarray, the small balance of the 8r Green stamps on hand was sent in small amounts to 16 other districts including Cordoba. All those are rarities.

Mexico, (Cuautitlan) ½r Black on Buff, without District Overprint, central strike of Tlalnepantla oval cancel (Schatzkes 211), Very Fine, no overprint from the direct shipment, Tlalnepantla was a sub-office of Mexico district, extraordinarily rare as only 10 were issued and this being the only known (NF unpriced), ex-D. Stout; with 2005 M.E.P.S.I. certificate.
