Sanitary Fair, Philadelphia, Pa., 1864, 10¢ blue, tied by light cork handstamp on cover addressed to the Asst. Engineer aboard the U.S. Steamer Louisiana off Newbern, N.C., in combination with 1861, 3¢ rose (65) tied by "Philada. Pa., Jun 12, 1864" cds and target duplex, reverse with "Catawissa R.R., Philadelphia., Jun 13, 1864" cds, with original enclosure with excellent content describing the Great Central Fair while the fair was still in progress, in part…"And now The Sanitary Fair occupies everybody's attention. I'bottom left tell you little bit about it. I am sorry you cannot see it for yourself for such an exhibition never was seen before in Philadelphia. Imagined a Gothic Arched Hall is 80 feet wide an square long. With a row of counters on each side and large square stands down the center. The arch is draped with the tricolor and flags of all the nations are suspended at intervals. Branches of the trees outside have been left through the walls and rows of chandeliers hang down each side. At the Western end an orchestra has been arranged and Hassler's Band play all the evening. From the Main Hall "Union Avenue", as it is called, branch thirteen other halls running north and south and at the end of these again are halls running East and West. The North Hall is the Art Gallery. Nearly a square long, both halls are covered with paintings - the finest collection ever exhibited here by far. The floral and horticultural display is beautiful. The gallery waters & smell of flowers enchants one. It is a perfect paradise and hours are not wanting to complete the picture. I can not give you a description of all of it for the newspapers have had columns on two Sundays since it opened and are not done with singing its praises".; also with two different fair admission tickets for the "Fine Art Gallery" and the "Academy of Natural Sciences; cover with slight soiling and edge wear, Fine, a rare Philadelphia Great Central Fair 10¢ usage with enclosure detailing the fair; with 2025 P.F. certificate.

Branch Office U.S. Christian Commission, Vicksburg, Miss., boxed corner card and descriptive paragraph on cover to Marlboro, O., franked with 1861, 3¢ rose pink (65a) tied by "Cairo, Ill., Apr 30" cds and target duplex; stamp with flaws at top and cover with partial sideflaps at right, F.-V.F., extremely scarce Vicksburg, Miss. imprint, ex-Bischel.
