Lot 2753    

Historic letters and ephemera, 1760-1862, a group nineteen items including letters with some interesting content as well as some ephemera, included is an 1843 letter from John Jay (grandson of John Jay, the first Chief Justice) discussing the Kansas-Nebraska Act, a bank draft signed by Thomas Dawes, patriot and later Senator from Massachusetts, certificate of employment for the Richmond Stage Company dated 1862, payment receipt dated 1779 for services rendered on expedition to Nova Scotia, 1778 letter from Hingham Mass with interesting content pertaining to the Continental Army pay and more, additional research on many of the letters also included, a scarce group with some historical significance.

Lot 2754    

United States, Interesting Accumulation, 1825-1975, of covers, documents, postcards, newspapers, advertising and more; there are many better First day covers including $5 Prexie and $5 Hamilton, very interesting selection, 1857 covers, some with Green cancels (3) certificates included, 2¢ Lincoln Centennial on blue paper (369) used on commercial cover (straight edge on one side), 1861, 1¢ (63) four singles on cover with deep rich shade, certificate included, complete White Plains sheet on registered commercial cover, several hundred postcards, a collection of Christmas seals on cards and covers, interesting signatures, including Carl Hubbell, Henry Kissinger and others, Lindbergh postcards used, some early stampless covers with enclosures, 1847 Mexican War cover with interesting contents, gun advertising covers with contents, old newspapers some from England and franked with 2d line engraved, maps, indentures and much more, a very interesting lot with many valuable items.

Lot 2755    

United States 19th Century Cover Balance, an an interesting group of 42 covers/wrappers, primarily stampless covers, noted are three covers from the US to Chili in the 1850s addressed to Faxton Atherton, the founder of the city of Atherton, California, plus a number of covers with Steamship markings, some interesting circulars and wrappers, also included are a few covers from Canada, generally Fine-Very Fine, a wonderful lot for further study.
