1869, 1¢ buff, on cover with an 1870 1¢ Deep Ultramarine, National Bank Note Company (145) and an 1861 1¢ Blue (63) tied by two fancy radial cancels plus "Burlington, VT. June 22" postmark (pencil notation 6/22/1870), sent to Plymouth, Vermont, stamps are fresh and sound, cover with minor staining on the left, Very Fine.

A WONDERFUL THREE COLOR, THREE ISSUE AND THREE BENJAMIN FRANKLIN FRANKING.

An unusual and rare cover, as well as a delightful salute to Franklin. With the late usage of the 1861 1¢ Blue; the "T" of the addressee, Rueben Taylor, and the "V" in Vermont in the shape of hearts; and the addressor's youthful handwriting in pencil, there is the possibility of this being a "philatelic" cover sent by a teenager in love, at the prompting of her stamp collecting boyfriend. A very early example of a philatelic cover. A terrific cover on many levels.

1869, 2¢ brown, horizontal pair, uprating on 1864, 3¢ pink entire (U58) to Ribeauville, France, tied by quartered cork handstamps with matching "New Orleans, La., Jun 20" cds alongside, red "New York, Jun 25" cds, red London transit backstamp and "G.B., 40c" accountancy handstamp on front, Calais transit handstamp and "15" decimes due handstamp additionally tying pair, Very Fine, an attractive 4¢ British open mail rate to France, overpaid as the sender may not have realized the indicia was valid to a foreign destination, ex-S. Rose.
