FDC's & event cover lot, 1932-1973. Group of over 105 items. Includes attractive "Dumonte" U.S.S Macon covers. Also, lovely "Discover Puerto Rico" all over advertising cover, 1937 Hawaii Statehood covers with/better cachets, various first flights, nice group of ship cancellation covers, and a complete set of 1938 Presidential Issue First Day Covers. Worth inspection.

First Day Cover collection - gold replicas, 1982-2001. Approximately 1,700 first day covers designed by the Postal Commemorative Society, each with an encased golden replica of the issue incorporated in the cover, with virtually a complete run from 1886 to 2001, all pristine and similarly addressed, some doubling of various sets, retail cost over $10,000.

Lot 2695

Macon memorabilia. With original music for 'The Wreck of the Shenandoah', 1925 publication with front cover of the crash site. The magazine 'Airships Transatlantic Transportation' intact with silk screen front cover printing with dozens of photographs and advertizing inside for the summer of 1936 issue. Two original newspapers, one The Sun of Baltimore with the headline 'Macon lost; 81 rescued' (February 13th 1935) and another, this time The Baltimore Post with front page news of 'Queen of air plunges to destruction' again for the USS Macon disaster, same date, interesting group.
