Swift & Co. Express. Printed frank (Haller FS12, Ty. 1) with blue "Swift & Cos. Express Santa Rosa" oval handstamp on 3¢ Red Nesbitt entire (U10) to San Francisco, conjunctive usage with "Wells, Fargo & Co. Express Petaluma" blue oval handstamp, sender's notation "With Pkg Coin $100", part of backflaps torn away, indicating this entire was a paste-up with the package of coins, skillfully cleaned and pressed, Very Fine, ex-Clifford and Kramer.

Swift & Co.'s Express. Boxed frank on paste-up of 1853 -55 3¢ Nesbitt entire without address with blue double oval "Swift & Co./Express/Santa Rosa" handstamp, small repair at bottom left corner & reduced approximately ¾"at left, Fine.

Paid/Grant I. Tagggart's/Shasta & Weaverville Express. Fancy printed frank on 1864-65 3¢ entire to San Francisco with blue "Wells Fargo & Co./Shasta" (Leutzinger Type 11-9) oval handstamp, some professionally mended edge tears with minor replacement at top right corner and sensibly reinforced flap, Fine, a great rarity, most are unused.

Taylors Express/Shasta, April 10. (1851) manuscript marking on brown cover to Monroe, Wis. with red "Sacramento City, Cal." cds and matching "40" rate marking, some edge wear & sensibly refolded at top, otherwise Very Fine& rare, Taylor picked up mail from Shasta to Sacramento and put in the PO there for onward transmission, only operated for about a year with all known marking being manuscript, only 3 or 4 known.

Forwarded by Thomes & Skaden's Express. From Reno, Nev. Unrecorded green label on reverse of 3¢ Reay entire with "Thomes & Skadan's Express" ribbon frank to San Francisco, cancelled by Wells Fargo blue oval Reno (Nevada) and indistinct cds, stain at center, Very Fine and rare, pictured (but not the label) in Gamett's "Nevada Expresses" on page 131.

Thomes & Skaden's Express. Printed frank with "Skadan" spelling (Haller FT3, Ty. 1a) on 3¢ green entire (U82) to San Francisco, conjunctive usage with faint partly readable blue "Wells, Fargo & Co. Reno Nev." oval datestamp, reduced at left, Very Fine and rare frank, from 1870 to 1874 Thomes & Skadden operated their express between Susanville (whose first residents thought they were in Utah, then Nevada) and Reno, connecting with Wells, Fargo & Co.

Tinnin & Owen's Weaverville & Shasta Express. Printed frank (Haller FT7) on 3¢ Pink entire (U59), paste-up usage without address, mostly clear strike of blue "Tinnin & Owens Weaverville Apr. 16" (ca. 1868) double-circle datestamp, some back faults and paper remnants typical of paste-up usage, slightly creased at lower left

FINE APPEARANCE. ONLY THREE EXAMPLES OF THE TINNIN & OWEN'S FRANK ARE RECORDED.

This express operated about five or six months in 1867-68 as an accommodation to Tinnin & Owen's customers in the general merchandise business. Its franked entires are extremely rare. We record three examples (Feb. 29, Mar. 24 and Apr. 16). No examples were in the Dale-Lichtenstein dispersal.
