A valuable correspondence of 5 folder letters from San Francisco to Valparaiso, Chile between Alexander Grogan and Faxon Atherton during the period of 1854 to 1857, 4 of the letter are at the 48¢ rate that was from Oct. 1853 to Dec 1856 and the last at the 34¢ rate of Dec. 1856 to Mar. 1870, all with appropriate rate markings of credit, debit and local collect charges, generally Very Fine condition; a fascinating lot for study.

(San Francisco). 5 covers; 1860's cds and cogwheel canceling 1861, 3¢ rose (faulty), two 1870's cds's (one with A station) and A in circle and D fancy cancels tying 3¢ Banknotes, 1884 cds and duplex killer tying 2¢ red brown on The Baldwin hotel corner card cover with illustrated hotel on reverse, 1896 duplex postmark on P.O. Official Business cover; all clear strong strikes, F.-V.F. overall.
