Marysville, Cala., Oct 12 (Yuba), manuscript postmark (Williams YUB-790) with "40" rate alongside, with additional red "40" handstamp applied in Sacramento, on 1850 folded letter to Worcester, Mass., letter datelined from Foster's Bar of a hopeful but unfulfilled miner, interesting content regarding a robbery of $4210 and they told the culprit if he did not tell where it was buried they would lynch him; cover wear and tear at top and some reinforced fold splitting, otherwise F.-V.F., pictured in Letters in Gold, ex Kutz.

Marysville, Cala., July 28 (Yuba), manuscript postmark (Williams YUB-790) with matching "80" rate, on 1850 folded letter to Monticello, Ill., with letter datelined "June the 5th, 1850, Sierra Nevada, N. Fork of N. Yuba" tells all about life, costs, his mining activities, etc.; cover wear and soiling, Fine and rare, a very important cover as this is the earliest cover known from Marysville as listed in Williams as well as a rare early manuscript double 40¢ rate.

Marysville, Cal., 12½ Feb 5 (Yuba), integral rate cds (Williams YUB-820) on 1851 folded letter to San Francisco, enclosure written from Long Bar on the Feather River, short mining letter telling friend that he is going to Scott River and to forward mail to Sacramento; some light file folds and a few natural bleach spots, F.-V.F., integral postmark even scarcer than the 40¢ rate.

Marysville, Cal., Paid By Stamps, Jun 4 (Yuba), blue cds (Williams YUB-870) with fancy four hearts on crossroad cancel tying 1857, 10¢ green, type III on 1858 cover to Portland, Me., with original enclosure telling how hard it is to make a living, board is $13 a week and pay is half what it was, Very Fine.

Mormon Island, Cala., Apl. 16 (Sacramento), fancy oval postmark (Williams SAC-1910) with manuscript "5" rate, on 1853 folded letter to Benicia, Cal., with letter regarding lumber business and money problems, nice strike of this so often partially struck cancel, Very Fine, a nice strike of the Mormon Island oval as this is so often partially struck.

Mormon Island, Cal., Apr 29 (Sacramento), clear strike of oval date stamp with manuscript date on 1854 folded letter to Versailles, France, manuscript "59 cts" rate and matching "Paid" in oval handstamp alongside, red "New York, Am. Packet, May 27" exchange cds, Calais French entry cds and "8" decimes due handstamp, reverse with Paris transit and arrival postmarks; some minor cover wrinkling, Very Fine, a rare transatlantic usage from Mormon Island.
