Confederacy, Beaufort, S.C., Oct. 16, 1861, cds with handstamped "Paid 5", type II, on cover addressed to "Greenville, S.C.", Beaufort was occupied November 9, 1861 and remained Union for the balance of the war, thus scarce, small edge tears at top, top back flap missing, Fine; Signed Brian Green who notes this to be one of only two examples recorded.
