J.W. Sullivan's Newspaper Office, Next Door to the Post Office, Kearny St., San Francisco. Double oval handstamp on backflap of cover to Farmington Falls, Me., franked with 1851, 3¢ dull red, horizontal pair tied by two strikes of Boston large "Paid" in grid handstamps, Very Fine, a very scarce Sullivan handstamp on cover via Nicaragua and entering the mails in Boston, Mass.

Red boxed handstamp on buff cover to Honeoye Falls, N.Y., franked with 1851, 12¢ black, diagonal bisect tied by central strike of "New York, Sep 9" cds; light cover edge wear and a few small edge tears, otherwise Very Fine, an extremely rare 1851, 12¢ black bisect usage via the Nicaragua route, ex Brown; with 1982 P.F. certificate.
