German States: Bavaria 1867, 18kr red + 12kr lilac. Large margins to just into framelines; tied by bluish violet "Nurnberg, Dec 9, 1871" cds's on cover to Mexico City, routing endorsement "via St. Nazaire" changed to "voie d'Angleterre", blue Paris transit cds, "4" reales inland rate assessed at Veracruz port of entry and reduced with "2" reales handstamp in Mexico City, Very Fine and choice, a wonderful and very rare high value franking usage to Mexico; with 1986 Brettl certificate, signed R. Friedl.

Tied by "Stuttgart, 11 Nov, 1865" cds's on cover to Puebla, Mexico forwarded to Teziutlan and Tulancinco, endorsed "via Paris, St. Nazaire, Vera Cruz" at lower left, red "Pd." in oval and manuscript "wf 24" rate for beyond the border, red French and reverse with Heidelberg - Basel transit cds's, "½" reales handstamp for special foreign soldiers rate; cover with minor edge wear, Very Fine, an extraordinary and rare usage to a foreign soldier in combat with the troops of Maximilian.

In combination with 1875, 20pf ultramarine on cover to Kleinbottwar, red crayon manuscript "9" rate of 2kr advertising rate plus 7kr (20pf) for insured letter, "26g" weight notation; cover with a couple vertical file folds, F.-V.F., a very rare mixed currency issue franking and usage; with 1989 Thoma certificate.

German States: Württemberg 1869, 3kr rose. In combination with 1875, 20pf ultramarine on 1875 registered cover to Ravensburg, tied by "Saulgau, 13 Jun, 75" cds's, newly issued registry etiquette and clear receiving backstamp; 20pf stamp slightly overlapping cover edge at right with corner perf slightly short, Very Fine, a scarce mixed currency issue franking, officially the new pfenning currency stamps were released July 1, 1875, however the 20pf pfenning has been recorded used several weeks earlier to replace the 7kr stamps; with 1999 Irtenkauf certificate.
