(Overland Pony Express) Wells Fargo & Co., 1861 $2 red, Pony Express Adhesive. Hidden defects, large margins to just in at bottom, tied on piece by blue San Francisco Running Pony cancel, but has been cut into thirds (clear of the adhesive) and then reassembled with archival tape on the back, handsome Very Fine appearance.

Fewer than six used examples of the $4.00 green horse & rider first issue have been reported. Possibly the finest used copy extant. The $4.00 Green was used briefly during Rate Period 3 to pay the double $2.00 per half-ounce rate. Only one cover is recorded.

(Overland Pony Express) Wells Fargo & Co., 1861 $1 red, Pony Express Adhesive. Four large margins, tied on large piece by blue "Wells, Fargo & Co./San Francisco" oval cancel, piece also includes the Wells Fargo printed frank (the black "Coast Routes" type rather than the red "Atlantic Express" type that is normally seen on full covers with this adhesive) with a "Paid Through" blue straight line handstamp and a U35 albino indicium, Extremely Fine and choice, ex-Polland.

A very rare used Pony stamp, no used example were present in the recent Twigg-Smith sale, except for the famous $4 black used from Hawaii.
